Passionate about sustainability, innovation, and energy efficiency in the built environment, Marta Maria Sesana graduated in Building Architectural Engineering and Ph.D. in Building Systems Engineering, at Politecnico di Milano, she followed up her education during her visiting researcher/professor periods abroad at: Fraunhofer Institute (ISE, 2008/2010), Colorado University in Boulder (Engineering and Applied Science Dept, 2017), Drexel University in Philadelphia (2018), and University of Coimbra, Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering (2024).
Currently, she is Associate Professor in Building Architectural Engineering at University of Brescia, Department of Civil, Environmental, Architectural Engineering and Mathematics (DICATAM) and her main research topics concern: energy simulation of buildings, performance analysis of technological solutions for buildings, integrated and sustainable design methods through assessment and certification according to sustainability protocols. She is the scientific responsible of several EU and national research projects, the most recent ones include MEZeroE project (EU - H2020) and RERoadS (PRIN 2022).
Her research activities are supported by collaboration with companies and SMEs for applied research and technological innovation processes, for which she is the scientific coordinator for promoting energy efficiency in the construction supply chain and studying innovative envelope technology systems. Since 2022, she has been the sustainability commission's scientific coordinator for the Fondazione Promozione Acciaio. She is the author of various publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and books on her research topics, as well as a member of the scientific committee of international journals and conferences.
