Matteo Beretta wanted to become an architect from early age. Dedicated to the construction industry he chooses to study architecture in Milan collaborating parallel with smaller architecture studios to better understand the day-to-day duties of an architect.
Shortly after graduating from the Polytechnic University of Milan with a degree in architecture, Matteo joined Matteo Thun & Partners in 2008 with the wish to work on more demanding and stimulating projects. He quickly became a team coordinator and established his expertise in delivering conscious and complex design for both residential and commercial commissions.
The initial phase of each project, the fundamental time when the main idea of an architectural project is born, when creativity must meet the demands of the client is his favourite chapter.
Since a well-executed concept phase is crucial to the coherence and success of the final project, Matteo became an uncompromising problem solver. He faces unforeseen circumstances and considers it a challenge to overcome obstacles with creativity and resilience ensuring a smooth progression towards the final outcome.
Only one year after joining the studio, Matteo Beretta was part of the team elaborating the Klima-Hotel Bellavista Pre-Certificate and worked on the model study of a hotel-concept where nature shows its total power and the earth becomes a protective mantle and, in this respect, the actual hostel. A perfect model to demonstrate landscape integrated volumes.
Another challenging project was ‘Le Finestre’ built within the Villa Eden Resort Complex since he had to find a concept that fit an existing excavation approved by the Superintendence as part of another studio's project, but which the client wanted to completely transform. His holistic approach to design and architecture focuses on the individual and their wellbeing. Currently, he and his team-members see the architecture and interior design for a hotelresidential complex in Salò for Falkensteiner on the shores of Lake Garda come alive; the 5-star resort will consciously combine restorative human experiences with the healing properties of nature. Construction and design take a responsible approach that combines craftsmanship, tradition, heritage and the aura of the genius loci with architectural innovation. Instinctively seeking to incorporate elemental beauty in each project, Matteo Beretta has been integral in developing the Matteo Thun language that combines design, aesthetic, and narrative value to create functional final products that have a story to tell.
