During the requalification process of the real estate market, utilities play a key role. According to Paolo Quaini, Energy Services Director, Market Division for Edison, the winning duo for development and sustainable growth is the combination of efficient energy and digital systems. "Decarbonisation is not only a technological matter, but above all is about intelligent solutions and a global approach to production and to the use of resources within a circular economy logic. The digital tools that are already available are a unique, universal, incredibly new language that enable us to talk about different skills. We have given ourselves the cultural diktat, wherever possible, to start every single building project with BIM. This is because overall production costs will not only be controllable in terms of time, resources and quality, but also lower that the costs of construction without BIM. If this were to become an acquired way of working, it would avoid the problem of dis-optimisation, because right from the outset, the form, function and performance would be studied as a whole with BIM.”
