Respecting the Paris agreement means halving emissions and consumption every ten years. But all too often, energy-environmental end results fall short of the objectives outlined in the project. So, what can we do? “Invest in new technology,” says Andrea Costa, co-founder and managing partner of R2M Solutions, a business that deals with research and innovation, including research projects financed by European Commission. “We need to bring technology to the building site, because up until now we have pushed hard at the planning stage, with BIM too, but then, once we get on site, technology is missing. To increase technology on site, we need to make it easier, quicker and cheaper to apply, so that we can measure performance in progress and not wait until the end.”
At REbuild, Costa presented various research initiatives, including those supported by the European Union, aimed at developing low cost innovative tools that can easily be adapted on site and that make it possible, with relative precision, to see how the process is evolving.
